The Skills Centre: an update
A guest news item from Tom Coulton, Manager of The Skills Centre, Edgware:
“We are thrilled to update you on the exciting training opportunities we’ve rolled out over the past month.
“Our 8-Week Green Skills Bootcamp has been a great success, providing an introduction to the construction industry with a focus on sustainability. Participants gained hands-on experience in insulation and retrofitting, earning qualifications like the NOCN Level 2 in Understanding Domestic Retrofit, and working towards their Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card. Each trainee was also offered up to two weeks of work experience with local employers, helping to meet the demand for skilled professionals and support our community’s sustainability goals.
“A pre-employment course with Women into Construction and Brent Cross Town Employment Programme is currently underway. This five-week program supports women from Barnet to enter the construction industry. It offers employability training, construction-specific education, and hands-on work placements. Participants benefit from Level 1 Health and Safety training, CSCS Card preparation, and practical sessions at the Brent Cross Town site.
