Spotlight on: Edgware Skills Centre community workshops

Since the Edgware Skills Centre opened its doors last year it has helped hundreds of local people develop new skills through classroom qualifications and hands-on skills training to get them ready for the world of work.

But the Skills Centre is about a lot more than courses and certificates. It has already become a feature on Station Road, as place to learn but also a place to meet, to build relationships as well as knowledge and bring the community together.

Most importantly, it’s a place to have fun!

That couldn’t have been clearer last Sunday, as the Skills Centre hosted the first of our arts workshops for local young people. The free drop-in sessions gave the young (and young at heart) people of Edgware an opportunity to show off their artistic skills with stunning landscapes, beautiful butterflies and colourful ladybirds all making an appearance!

For those with an eye for fashion, we are also continuing our popular monthly Fast Fashion Workshops which help residents learn how to mend and repair clothes and other fabrics, meaning less is thrown away, more money is saved while doing your bit for the environment.

If you want to take part in any of these free to attend workshops, please drop by the Edgware Skills Centre on the following dates:

  • 13 April, 11.30am - 1pm: Fast fashion workshop - book for free here

  • 11 May, 11am - 3.30pm: Art workshop with Janine - drop in at any time, free for all ages

  • 1 June, 11am - 3.30pm: Art workshop - drop in at any time, free for all ages

All workshops take place in the Edgware Skills Centre, 158 Station Road, Edgware, HA8 7AW (the old Argos building).
